Flush, Low-Profile Ikea Skadis Mounting System
Print Profile(0)
Description
Do you own an Ikea Skadis Board and have your own model that you want to mount beautifully to the wall, with minimal (or none) added thickness? Well, here you go!
Here are the specifications for the different Mounting Systems:
2x2:
- Incredibly strong
- Larger (44x44mm)
- Safe from tipping to the side
1x2:
- Strong
- “Thin” (66x24mm)
- Safe from tipping to the side
- Different designs/versions for Horizontal/Vertical use cases.
1x1:
- Ok durability
- Very small (24x24mm)
- Not safe from tipping (Note: I might just have come up with a solution for the problem)
How do I integrate my designs with the mounting system?
The easiest way to create the slot is to create a negative of the plate- I will use the 2x2 plate as an example, but the method can be applied for all sizes. The plate is 44x44mm large and 5.4mm thick (this applies to all sizes), so we need to create a 44mm wide and 5.4mm high sketch. Once this box has been create, add a triangle for each side. The longer side of the triangle will be 4.5mm wide and be on the outer side.

After this extrude only the large middle part, and use that as a negative, best case with a .15mm (or less) fillet. Your part should look like this:

Note: The “Blue Part” is the dummy negative, it will of course not be printed and only acts as a negative to get the right size/shape for the actual mount. This design can be applied to all other sizes.

The provided clips are NOT mine and I want to thank tchoupshop for providing these awesome low-profile clips for download! Check them out here! The mounting design is original and I'm quite proud of it, but you are allowed to use this “template” commercially - but do not claim to have created the design yourself/forget to credit me! Thank you!
