Description

After having our fruit crop munched by the birds several times we decided to build a simple fruit protection cage. Instead of just draping a net over the top and stapling it to the wood, we wanted to make it easy to remove over winter or for doing any work inside the cage.

We built the uprights of the fruit cage with tall tree stakes. As they were round it made sense to design the clip to use the curve of the stake. The single clip is handy to clip off the ends of the net or wrap around a stake a secure it.

They aren't fussy about the size of the netting used; we used simple fabric bird netting that still allows insects through for pollination. They would also work for thinner insect netting too. You can add as many as required depending on the netting type - some nets stretch and droop more than others.

Recommend printing in PETG for outdoor use but the early prototypes worked fine in PLA too. No supports needed, just print on the side. Attach with outdoor countersunk wood screws.

Double version is also available, and top hooks for hanging the net too.
