Description

Print the intricate swirling pattern of the queen conch. Then give it a blow to summon a kraken!

Started with the exterior 3d scan of a queen conch, hollowed out the internals, then modeled a spiral from reference photos of conch shells cut in half. Finally, added a trumpet mouthpiece. With the internal swirl, it sounds almost like the real thing.

This fits an Ender 3 print bed after shrinking the margins a bit – prints as two pieces, Conch_horn_top and Conch_horn_bottom. Also included is a version with a wider mouthpiece.

Differences of the remix compared to the original:
Hollowed inside, mesh adjustments, added a spiral.

Joined trumpet mouthpiece with conch shell.

I'm a teacher starting a unit on the novel Lord of the Flies, so printed this to add to the lessons. Students and I both love it and are having some success making it sound.

Wow, I am really happy someone used the print profile. Your print looks even nicer! (Mine warped quite a bit and I had to fill a gap with bits of PLA waste and super glue. I guess I should give the CryoGrip plate a try...) I am curious how yours sounds. Mine sounds like... the aftermath of a spicy meal.... :D The sound might improve by making the inside smoother somehow.. Maybe by coating it with some epoxy resin or lacquer... idk. Have a great day! :)

That's so cool, and ironically, I found this conch design because I needed to wear a piggy costume for school.

I was asked to print this by my son for his wife who I believe needed it in a play, I reduced it to 80% of its original size, needless to say that she was over the moon, and I think its worth two boosts, Thank you. Sorry there is no photo, it was whipped away before I could take one, if I get one I'll pop one back at a later date.

This is awesome! I'm from Key Largo and we have tons of live conchs around here! You just can't harvest them.... so this is the perfect alternative! I just finished printing it. If I size this down are their issues? Have you tried PETG? And I used the .6 High Flow on my P2S.... would it be better or just quicker with the .8?
