Description

I designed this flag to be customizable by using a heat gun or other heat source to soften the plastic and bending it by hand. The flag is only 1mm thick and prints easily in about 2 hours at .16 layer height. The flagpole prints in just under an hour at .16 and the base takes about 4 hours at .2.

Once the flag is printed, I suggest clamping the left edge between two pieces of wood to keep it straight while heating. Apply heat carefully, taking care not to melt it. I work from the left edge out, heating and bending the flag in one area then applying heat to another section and bending, continuing until you reach then end, shaping it as you go. If you don't like the way a bend looks, just reheat and reshape it until you like the look. Once you have the flag molded the way you like it, use (2) M3x8 screws and nuts to attach the brackets. I used button head screws. The top bracket just fits over the top pin of the flagpole and the bottom bracket slides freely.

For the flagpole, carefully glue the two halves together. I used E6000 which allows you to reposition parts if needed. You can use the ball on top to help position the two halves, but DO NOT glue the ball in place at this point or you won't be able to add the brackets for the flag. Once the flagpole is assembled, press it into the base. It's a tight fit and shouldn't need to be glued in. Then add the flag and finally place the ball on top. You can glue the ball in place or not, the choice is yours.

I have added a second base with the first line of the Pledge to the Flag debossed into it.
