Knifey from the video game High on life
This is an improvement (in my son's opinion) on the Knifey model found on Printables (shout out to Alt XP).

My 12 year old son wanted me to make him Knifey. I showed him the free model on Printables, but he wanted the face to look more like the model found on Etsy, so I tried my best to improve it using Nomad sculpt.

DETAILS:
- Knifey is about 33cm tall (from base of the handle to the tip of the blade)
- Requires painting
IMPROVEMENTS:
- Enlarged one of the eyes.
- Created an improved (deeper) slot where the blade is inserted to improve strength.
- Improved the gums.
- Filled in the mouth to reduce the amount of supports printed.
- Fixed the base of the handle to be flat to simplify printing.
PRINTING:
- The head and handle are separated (to reduce the amount of supports required)
- There are two separate plates for the blade
- One is the original and standing upright (NB: I did not print this version as I thought it would simplify fall off the plate)
- The blade is split in half and lies flat on the plate (requires both halves to be glued together, but the blade is stronger when printed in this orientation)
- Requires supports (the mouth requires lots of supports)
BUILDING TIPS:
- Remove the supports from the mouth (can be a bit painful I'm afraid).
- Glue together the head and handle.
- Glue the blade halves together (if printed flat).
- Test the fit of the blade to the head (might need to sand/cut back the slot to get it to fit)
- Prime with a white automotive primer filler to reduce layer lines.
- Spray the blade with any old silver spray can from the hardware store.
- It is probably easiest to hand paint the head and handle in order to keep the eyes and teeth white.
- I have Vallejo liquid masking fluid which I painted over the eyes and teeth, so I actually used a red spray can from the hardware store. Once painted, I peeled of the mask and hand painted with a brush, the eyes and teeth to get them white. I then painted the handle with a brush.
- NOTE: I wanted the blade to fit into the slot as tight as possible, but after painting it didn't quite fit. So I needed to modify the slot slightly with a model knife. I have seen peoples comments on Printables, that they sanded back the blade as well in order to fit.
