Description

From Wikipedia:

Construx is a brand of plastic building toys introduced by Fisher-Price in 1983. Unlike other building toys such as <a popular brick building toy>, Construx feature beam-like pieces of varying lengths that snapped on to cubical connector knots in order to build large shapes. These are relatively secure even though no nuts or bolts were used. Panels allowed assembly of flat surfaces. Hinges, motors, wheels, and other movable parts expand the number of different shapes that can be built, and make moving creations possible. Construx was discontinued in 1988, briefly revived by Mattel in 1997, and then discontinued again.

I loved Construx as a kid. I had a whole bunch and loved building whatever the imagination wanted to build. I still have my sets and now my kids love building with them too.

I modeled some of the most popular pieces in Fusion and started printing them. It turns out they are fun and easy to print and they work well with the original pieces from the 80s. Now we can make Construx in whatever color we want! I can also design and make all sorts of crazy pieces that were never made.

Included here are the 3 main “beam” pieces, small, medium, and large. I have also included the “knot” and the special green “angled knot”.

These were printed from PLA with supports being needed only on the knots. I recommend tree supports as they are easier to remove.

Enjoy!
