Description
USB Thumb Drive Shell/Casing
I designed this new housing for my USB thumb drive after its original plastic casing broke. The internal components were still functional, so I created a custom shell to protect and continue using the drive. To differentiate this drive, I added a small snail logo on the cover, indicating it's one of my slower drives.
Assembly Instructions:
- Print all parts.
- Insert the thumb drive board with the connector extending as far out of the cover as possible.
- Important: Ensure the board is positioned correctly; if it's too short, the USB connector may not reach the USB socket.
- If needed, add a spacer (e.g., a folded piece of paper) behind the board to push it forward.
- Once satisfied with the fit, apply a small amount of superglue underneath the board. Avoid using too much glue to prevent it from oozing out and hardening, which could obstruct proper USB port insertion.
- After securing the board, add another drop of superglue on top of it and a tiny amount along the edges of the shell.
- Place the top cover on the shell, press it tightly (the seam should be barely noticeable, about the thickness of a layer line), and hold it in place until the glue hardens.

Print Information:
- Material: PLA (works just fine for this use case, PETG should also be OK)
- Print Profile: 0.16mm High Quality on BBL A1
- I opted for 0.16mm to ensure a tight fit and have the snail logo look nice.
