Description

Short-range linear spherical reticulated shell is a meshing method based on regular polyhedron, which has uniform mesh and excellent structural properties. The whole body has 80 faces, 42 vertices, and 120 edges.

Geodesic spherical reticulated shell is a type of space structure, created by American engineer R. Fuller, based on the geodesic principle in geometry. It is unique in that its grid division is based on the regular polyhedron, which is derived from the regular icosahedron. On this basis, two midpoints on the great circle and inferior arc are taken and connected. The base adopts hollow design, and the ornamental lines of the mesh shell are arranged in different ways from each Angle, with unique symmetry and beauty, showing an orderly geometric aesthetic feeling.

From the point of view of structural stability and mechanical properties, the short-range linear spherical reticulated shell can effectively withstand asymmetric loads or concentrated loads due to its uniform mesh distribution, and has good stability and stiffness. It has become an important branch of modern space structure design because of its unique geometric form and excellent structural performance. For architects and engineers, understanding and mastering the characteristics and design methods of this structural form will help to deal with the increasingly complex architectural design needs more effectively.
