Description

This is a working music box, just wind the handle and it will produce a song. This music box needs some assembly but it is relatively easy and fun, plus you get to watch the mesmerizing gears work.

IMPORTANT

For all of the following text I will refer to the parts as they are named in the files

printing:

most parts are relatively easy to print(if I don't mention the part just print it with the biggest side on the build plate, using regular supports if necessary)

the “handel” needs to be printed with the ball facing straight up and the gear on the build plate. I personally used tree supports and it worked well so I recommend doing that.

print  “music 1” with the gear on the build plate with normal supports

print “music holder rev4”  with the prong sticking straight up(use supports if necessary)

IMPORTANT:

when removing supports be carful not to damage any of the parts especially on “music 1” and “base rev 2”

PRO TIP :)

for the base I used a flathead screwdriver to pry off the main supports

Assembly:
PRO TIP:

use the pictures to help with assembly

Congrats on printing all the parts! To start the assembly first grab a couple of toothpicks (or the 3d printed toothpicks ONLY IF you dont have real tooth picks

Next place “Music 1” into its slot on the base, this will be very finicky but it should fit

Now place the 20 by 5 gear in the slot nearest music 1, with the 5 tooth meshing with the 20 tooth on “music 1”.Next insert a toothpick through the gear and the holes in the side (don't worry about the extra length yet)

Where getting there now place the “7 by 15 gear” so  that the 7 tooth meshes with the 20 tooth on the last gear we did. Now just place a toothpick through the hole and move on.

Next cut a toothpick so it is not sharp and place the dull end into the “handel” now insert the toothpick through the hole on the top, make sure the handle's gears mesh with the 7 by 15 gears

Last step on the opposite side of “music 1” place in “music holder rev 4” make sure that the holes align and that the point is inside of “music 1” place a toothpick through the bottom and make sure if can move(it should be difficult to move), this can be flipped up or down to “easily” remove the "music 1".

Lastly take a pair of scissors or snips and cut the toothpicks to size leave some room on either side, now take a pair of pliers and crimp the toothpicks to hold them in place.

YOU DID IT :D

wind the to hear the song
