A dowel insert for strengthening or repairing hinges and other screw fixings in chipboard furniture etc. I designed this originally to repair a concealed hinge on an Ikea Billy Bookcase which was damaged due to the screws in the hinge pulling out of the chipboard, but it may be suitable for other uses. Designed to fit a 10mm hole (allowed me to drill-out the existing damaged hole), and I applied a spot of wood glue before pressing the dowel into the hole using a quick-grip type clamp.

I designed the plug to incorporate a split across the middle and the hole is also tapered to encourage the insert to spread as the screw is inserted for extra grip.
