Description
Quadrant, an English term meaning 1/4 of a circle divided equally. Quadrants are a part of the Cartesian coordinate system, and its founder was René Descartes. They are mainly used in trigonometry and the Argand diagram coordinate system (complex plane) for complex numbers. In the Cartesian plane, the plane is divided into four regions by the horizontal and vertical axes, these four regions are called the four quadrants. The quadrants are centered at the origin, with the horizontal axis, vertical axis as the dividing lines. They are numbered I, II, III, and IV, starting from the upper right and moving counterclockwise. The origin and the coordinate axes do not belong to any quadrant!
