Description

I wanted to model the X-37B using 1.75mm filament as the hinges for the payload bay doors. This is as small as I could get the model with opening payload bay doors. The model is about 215mm long (~8.5inches).

The front section has the black tiles but I did not try to separate the nose cap. You could color this section grey and color the nose cap in the slicer as black. The bottom of the aft section has the tiles but the whole section is a single color. I was going to paint the tiles black but I have delayed that option.

The port wing has the US Air Force symbol on it. Those colors are red, white and black. The starboard wing has “USAF” in black.

For my models, using the Bambu X-1, I used a 0.4mm nozzle and I use PLA as the base filament but I use PETG for the support interface since they do do adhere to each other. This seems to generally make the support easy to remove cleanly.

Note: it has been suggested that printing the payload bay doors vertically would improve the lettering. I haven't actually printed them yet, but it appears to take 3 times longer.
