Description

Tools and Materials Needed (please give me a like)

  • Goldshell Box II miner (KA box in my example)
  • 140mm external fan (with screws included)
  • 3D printer (e.g., BambuLab P1S)
  • Filament for 3D printing
  • Screwdriver

3D Printing the Air Duct

Download and Prepare the 3MF File:

  • Ensure you have the correct 3MF file for the air duct design.
  • Import the file into your 3D printing software.
  • If using STEP files, you may have to cut down the height in the slicer.

Printer Settings:

  • Layer Height: 0.2mm
  • Support: Tree (auto) on build plate only
  • Print the air duct using these settings.
  • See orientation in the pictures.

Print the Air Duct:

  • Start the print on your BambuLab P1S printer.
  • Wait for the print to complete. This may take several hours depending on your printer and settings.

Assembling the Fan and Air Duct

Attach the Fan to the Air Duct:

  • Position the 140mm fan at the designated spot on the printed air duct.
  • Use the screws provided with the fan to securely attach it to the duct.

Mount the Air Duct to the Miner:

  • Align the air duct with the Goldshell Box II miner.
  • Place the miner on top of the air duct. The fit should be snug and secure without needing additional fasteners.

Benefits of Adding an External Fan

Improved Cooling:

  • Original Temperature: 75°C
  • Temperature After Modification: Below 59°C
  • This significant drop in temperature helps to ensure the miner operates more efficiently and prolongs its lifespan.

Enhanced Performance:

  • Lower temperatures reduce thermal throttling, ensuring that your miner maintains optimal performance.

Longevity:

  • Keeping the components cooler reduces wear and tear, potentially extending the miner's operational life.

Real-Life Example

Imagine your Goldshell Box II miner is like a car engine. If the engine gets too hot, it won't run as well, and over time, it could break down. By adding an external fan, it's like installing a better cooling system in your car. This keeps the engine (or in this case, the miner) running smoothly and for a longer time.

Conclusion

By following these steps, you can effectively reduce the operating temperature of your Goldshell Box II miner, leading to better performance and longevity. The process is straightforward and involves using a 3D-printed air duct and a 140mm fan to enhance cooling.
