Description

*Update - I have updated the project to include a light body that uses the Bambu LED 001. There are two build plates, select the one that fits your need.

This is a nightlight I created for a baby shower. The model is based on the popular Harry Potter - platform 9 ¾ sign. It prints in multiple pieces and utilizes an E12 candelabra bulb as the light source.

To assemble the base is one piece and the body of the sign is another. The light pane, top spire and back panel are all individual pieces that can be secure. The back panel does have included 3d printed thumbscrews which make it easy to remove to change the LED light bulb. After printing all pieces I insert the socket into the bottom of the light box and then feed the cord through the void in the base. Then glue the light box to the base so it is secure.

I love the print, for some reason I can’t get the base to come out nicely, it always ends up with this weird stringing. I’m printing direct from the app and using the default profile

Honestly it will just need some supports if you want to avoid stringing on the underneath side. I turned that setting down to speed things up and make removal easier in the slot to run the wire out.

Working on printing the parts for the Bambu LED kit version and noticed an area that seems to be off balance, and it is suggesting supports. Screenshot attached.

Yep it sure is off-center a bit I hadn't noticed until you pointed it out. I printed mine with no supports in that area and it was fine but you can change the support settings so that section gets them if you think they will be necessary.

I'll work on that this weekend. I prefer the candelabra bulb because it's not as bright for a nightlight, but it should be easy enough to change.

having slight problems fixing the light pane to the body, otherwise came out great

are the alignment pegs to large for the holes in the pane? I ended up placing the pane on the pegs and then adding a dab of super glue to each peg so it holds solid. My wife just put the main body face down, set in the pane and then added some hot glue around the edge.
