These are files to print your own DIY play mat for playing Riichi Mahjong, inspired by the infamous junk mat. This print features four trays per player deep enough to hold about 20 tenbou and is 16mm tall to nicely align with standard size Richii tiles (including the ones made by me https://makerworld.com/en/models/491496#profileId-405023) placed against the wall for pon/chi/kan.

This print features sections which join together with dovetail joints. Depending on your printer variance, you may need to sand down some of the joints or slice a layer of joint off with a craft knife (easier than you think) to get a perfect fit on some parts. Two of the sides, once assembled, are meant to form a scroll with a cut sheet of felt, similar to the junk mat. Allowing you to roll it up for easy storage. The other two assembled sides are meant to be removed for storage.

I used hobby felt from a textile store cut down to size. The interior dimensions of the play mat at 600mm ^ 2 though you'll likely want 670mm" ^ 2 of felt to align to each edge. I used a fabric knife to cut the felt, though rough cut with scissors works too (since these parts of the felt won't be visible while in use) by using the printed parts as a outline for the cut with chalk. For attaching the cut down felt to the plastic, I would recommend one of two methods:

  1. The method I used is using the pre-cut holes in the rolling sides to insert M3x6x5 mm heatset inserts (such as these https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B08YYGRCBG?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details) to attach the felt via M3 screws and some printed washers included in the file. See my last photo.
  2. Perhaps overkill on the above? I would also recommend using Scotch 77 spray adhesive as other adhesives like superglue have a tendency to make felt too brittle.
