Description

3D printed Nintendo Switch Joycon housing. I've printed in multiple layer heights, though .2 and under seem best to look and feel like a quality product. Print with 2 walls if you want an easier time screwing everything, or 3 walls if you're willing to trade time, material, and a more complicated re-assembly process (I had a few screws go flying before getting them to thread), for a heftier build. I've used generic and Bambu PLA, but a transparent PETG could be cool. I think the original and most 3rd party joycon housings (I believe) are ABS. I modified the rear housings to remove the trigger cover so it could be printed with the face on the build plate. I also added more support around the button that allows you to remove the joycon from the console and added a small rectangular bump near the edge of the trigger area to reduce the spring travel and feel more dialed. In the images you'll see the faces are textured due to my textured build plate, which I like… It adds some grip compared to the smooth, original joycons. With Fuzzy Skin enabled at .25 distance and .1 thickness, it gives the 3d printed housing a more quality feel than the originals, IMO.
