Description

Do you need custom magnets for your fridge or whiteboard? Then you are right here!

This handy customizer creates magnet casings in any size, with monogram or symbols, open for glued-in magnets or encapsulated to protect the magnets.

I've added pre-made print profiles for some magnet sizes but you can customize the magnet holders to any size.

When printing encapsulated magnet holders, the printer pauses after printing the cavity for the magnet. When inserting the magnet, make sure it does not protrude over the top edge of the already printed part and then press "Resume" on the printer's display.

Be careful when using very strong magnets - they might interfere with and stop the fans, creating a printing error. I observed this phenomenon with a very strong 15x5mm magnet (N52). However, there was no permanent damage.

When using the customizer:

  • Symbols (instead of a monogram) can be inserted using an appropriate symbol font. To do this, select the “Noto Emoji” character set. The symbols in this character set can be found on "emojipedia.org" and similar websites. Simply copy the symbol you want there and enter it into the “monogram_text” field.
  • For encapsulated magnets make sure that the “floor_thickness” set in the customizer matches the “layer heights” set in Bambu Studio. Depending on the size and strength of the magnet, the floor thickness should be approximately between 0.24 and 0.4 mm. For instance, to achieve a floor thickness of 0.32 mm you could set the “layer height” to 0.12 mm and the “initial layer height” to 0.2 mm - or both layer heights to 0.16 mm.
  • Open magnet holders can be created by setting the floor thickness to zero. The magnet has then to be glued in. This is the best option for weaker magnets like ferrite magnets. The customizer automatically flips the created design upside down as this is the best orientation to achieve a smooth bed for the magnet.

How to prepare your print profile for encapsulated magnets:

In this variant the magnet is completely enclosed. Therefore the printing has to be paused so that you can insert the magnet.

The pause is inserted in Bambu Studio as follows:

In preview mode, move the Z-Slicer on the right edge of the screen to the first layer above the cavity for the magnet and right-click on the small plus button in the Z-Slider to show the pause option:
