Description

A mouse shell modified based on a cat skull from the internet+Wireless Mouse Components Kit 002 . I have always wanted to modify my G304 into a cat skull mouse.

Software Used: Plasticity, Blender

  • Modify the cat skull file in Blender.
  • Create the differential Boolean structure in Plasticity.
  • Bridge to Blender, apply Boolean operations, and export.

The design prototype is a cat skull. Due to the fingers being suspended, the expression was made more fierce. The eyes resemble car lights. The fingers can press on the upper teeth or the brow area: light press on the upper teeth area, heavy press on the brow area. The DPI button is changed to a small sharp point, creating a chaotic feel of mask + ghost + car. The elongated skull also has an alien feel, making it more interesting than just a plain skull. However, after comparing it with a cat, it still doesn't look as good as a cat.

For the small mouse, move it with the index and pinky fingers holding the sides. Initially, I wanted to design it bigger and taller, but the height of the scroll wheel can't be changed. With the current size, I have been troubled by the strange feeling of the flattened skull. The idea of making the eyeballs the left and right buttons was abandoned due to hardware limitations. The finished product still looks strange compared to the skull.

In any case, I’ll make it first and use it. If improvements can be made after some time, I'll upload new files. If not, or if I don't have the time, it'll stay as is.

  • The circuit board is exposed; the front edge might cut your hand, so it’s best to round it off.
  • I have already set up supports and shielded the Z-seam. If you add your own supports, there might be residual supports at the base of the left and right buttons and the DPI button.
  • The facial part of the skull may have obvious layer lines. You can use variable layer height printing, but it's easy to have heat dissipation issues, material buildup, and sticking to supports, making it hard to remove (I used ABS), not recommended.
  • The DPI button comes with different height replacement parts; choose one to print.
  • The side bones where the index and pinky fingers rest might break easily. Increasing thickness doesn't help much; you can try enhancing local print strength or later strengthening with liquid resin.

Printing:

  • Model: P1S
  • Layer height: 0.2mm
  • Nozzle: 0.4mm
  • Preferably ABS or PETG (I used ABS; not sure if PETG would be stiffer)
  • Do not print the skull part vertically; the left and right buttons will break when pressed.

Installation:

  • After printing the skull, cut off the zygomatic connection points on both sides (small cylinders, see picture).
  • Shave off the middle of the teeth, smooth it as much as possible.
  • Screw in the screws until they do not protrude from the bottom surface, no wobbling is fine.
  • Confirm the base plate is flat before and after installation.

Modifications to the official print file:

  • Remove the middle shell.
  • Only three screws are needed.
  • Optimize the switch slot chamfer for better molding.
  • Add a notch inside the switch slot for easier direction recognition.
  • Add transparent key direction markers.
  • Reduce the wire slot entrance to prevent loosening after insertion.
  • Add a notch for the positive battery terminal to facilitate battery removal.

 

 

基于网络上猫头骨改的鼠标壳+拓竹无线鼠标组件,我以前一直想把我的g304改成猫头骨鼠标来着.

使用软件:Plasticity Blender
在Blender里修改猫头骨文件,Plasticity中制作差值的布尔结构,桥接到Blender,布尔,导出.
设计原型是猫头骨,因为手指头悬空,就表情凶化处理,眼睛类似车灯,手指可以按压上齿或者眉骨部位,上齿轻按区,眉骨重按区.
dpi键改成小尖角,有种能面+鬼+车的混乱感.拉长的头骨也有异形的感觉把?比单纯头骨有趣.但是设计完和猫对比下,还是不如猫好看.
小鼠标,大小拇指夹两侧移动.本来想设计大点高点,但是滚轮的高度无法改变.现有尺寸下一直在烦恼优化头骨压扁后的异样感,把眼球作为左右按键的想法也是因为硬件限制放弃.成品和头骨对比起来还是很奇怪的把.
总之,先做,先用,用段时间能改进就上传新文件,改进不了,或者没时间就这样了.

.电路板裸露,前端边缘可能割手,最好磨圆.
.我已经设置好支撑,屏蔽z缝之类的设置了,自己加支撑打印后可能左右键,dpi键根部有支撑残留.
.头骨面部部分可能会层纹明显,可以使用可变层高打印, 但是很容易散热不足堆料,黏连支撑,很难拆 (我用的abs),不建议.
.dpi键提供不同高度替换件,自选其一打印
.大小拇指放的侧面骨头可能容易断,加厚了效果不大,可以尝试局部打印强度加强或者后期用洗板水之类的容积抹抹加强强度


打印:

.优先 abs petg(我用的abs,不知道petg会不会按起来更硬)
.不要垂直打印头骨部分,左右键一按就断.
 


安装
.头骨打印完剪掉两侧颧骨连接点(小圆柱,有图)
.牙齿中间切削掉,尽量弄光滑
.螺丝拧到不突出底面就行了,摇晃无松动即可
.打印好,安装前后确认底板平整.

官方打印文件的修改
.去掉中壳
.螺丝只要3个
.优化开关槽倒角,更好成型
.开关槽内部,添加缺口,方便识别方向
.添加透明键方向标识
.缩小电线槽入口,塞入后不易松脱
.添加电池正极缺口,方便取电池
