Description

Heyho :)

Yesterday I set myself the task of designing a relatively complex and completely 3D printable contour gauge. Here is the result :)

Small disclaimer: I know this tool has many individual and small parts! So make sure your printer is calibrated well so you won't be disappointed later! Tolerances are set to 0,15 to 0,2 mm.

Features:

1. 100% 3D printable parts!

2. Different pencils usable! (Metal dorn adapter will come soon!)

3. All parts are replaceable! So there can be added new designs later on or if they wear down you can renew them!

4. Integrated wheel as a depth stop to protect your pens or set a maximum scraping depths with metal dorns!

5. Pencil position is completely locable!

A) Temporarily lock the position into place by squeezing the sides.

B) Lock the position in place by inserting the “locking pin”. This will push a break out of the side and hold the position in place!

6. Different lengths! It is quite easy to generate new (longer) Versions of this Tool! I already designed a M and L Version. (+ 40 mm and +80 mm length) If you are looking for even longer tools simply write a comment! - I did not test this with the standard handleparts. But if you need these also slonger simply scale them in z direction (only)!

7. Scraping Nail/ Pin: You can use a nail/ needle to scrape the marking. I designed a special adapter Set to hold the nail in place.

Bearing: You can simply use a 608 miniature bearing or use a 3D printed alternative!

Printing Instructions:

I used PLA for all parts. 3 Perimeter, 25% Infill, Arachne perimeter generator.
No supports but a brim for the handle pieces is recommended.

Post Processing: If some parts are not working as smoothly as they should you can help a little bit by applying some parafin (candle wax) to lube it.

Assembly Instructions:

1. Complete the Pencil Holder Cage.
- Insert the break from the side.
- Insert the axis bearing into the wheel and put that into the cage.
- Insert the Axis Lock from the side until it clicks into place. Make sure you didn't forget the bearing (red)! It is hard to change that later on :)

2. Add the cage, 608 Bearing + Axis and the “wall contact pointer” to the main parts.

3. Add the side handpieces to the constructions and clip them into place. (You can remove them later on if you want to change sth.)

The “break” pin is optional but you can put that into place now.

4. Add a pencil of your choice to the tool and use the wedge to hold it in place!

You are done and ready to use the tool!

Have fun!

Small Update 03.06: Fixed some small things like the "marking pin" being in the center and increasing its tolerance to 0,15 from 0,1 mm.

Added an Addon set for Needles/ Nails/ Pins.

I also added Pins with different tolerance sizes (standard is 0,1 mm).
