WHAT IS IT?

It's a baby dragon! I remodeled the head, body and tail segments to make this look like a younger version of the Night Spirit dragon. I didn't just remove and resize segments.

WHY I MADE IT?

I had a couple people ask about making a smaller version, and I told them “someday”. But then I came across a kid selling little 3D prints at a bazaar recently, and his “kid friendly” printer only supported models under 100mm x 80mm. So I wanted to make one for kids with kiddie 3d printers can enjoy. I got it down to 91mm x 74mm for the curled model. And who doesn't want a baby dragon!

HOW TO PRINT

  • Walls: 2 or more walls, top and bottom 3 or more.
  • Supports NOT required.
  • Brim or raft NOT required (but can help if you are having trouble with adhesion)
  • Filament: Any
  • IF YOU SCALE BELOW 100% - SEPERATE THE MODEL INTO PARTS. This will prevent pieces from merging together.

As always, happy to help if you are having issues printing. Just shoot me a DM.

WHAT TO PRINT

The latest Baby Night Spirit will always be posted in the “CURRENT” folder. There is a Curled and Straight version. Photos of this version are shown in the red and blue Hello3D filament.

Older versions of the model will be moved to an ‘Archive’ folder.

Although I am likely to regret it… in the ‘Extras’ Folder, I included the other head variants. The Teenage Night Spirit is the early Beta head mod, the OG Teen Night Spirit has the full size Night spirit head, and finally, my ruggedized head of the Spirit Dragon. The white version in the pictures is beta 0.1 or 0.2. I think they look a little funny. Their heads are too big, but just in case someone wants one.

CHANGES/DEVELOPMENT HISTORY

UPDATE 1.1 - Reduced file size 90% on both models. No loss in detail I can see. I also fixed a minor issue where the pieces were touching on the tail, where it touched the body.

Beta_0.5 Swapped a couple pieces to improve fitment. Printed and tested good. Going to curl the model and release.

Beta_0.4 Widened whole jaw, increased the size of the eyes and brought them closer to the surface. Pushed eye horns up to expose the eyes more. Improved clearances on the body providing more flexibility. Smoothed body pieces and face, to make it look younger.

Beta_0.3 Made model straight. Widen the front part of the tail, so it tapers better with body. Narrowed body and head slightly. I replaced all the body pieces with a modified one with a curved post. It is slightly thicker and provides more space for alignment. Fixed the messed up tail rendering.

Beta_0.2 Remodeled head to make it look like a juvenile version of dragon. Shortened the length, widened jaw, shortened all horns and ridges, enlarged eyes softened bumps/textures and shortened frills. Shortened and narrowed the tail. Curved posts of body segments. Got down to 103x82. Trying to reduce below 100 for kid printers.

Beta_0.1 - Scaled down head and tail.

Beta_0 - Reduced number of segments, resized to taper body. Full size tail and head.
