Description

This is a setup that uses the neje 40 diode laser. This laser can cut 5mm (1/4") plywood and thicker softwoods. This laser cutter is entirely made of PLA and can be scaled to any size format that you desire (except you might have some trouble with the cable chain over 1000mm). The feature that sets this laser cutter apart is the integrated bed, which makes setting things up much more convienent. The bed can also be fitted with accessories, I have only designed a corner keeper so if I have to recut something I can just put the piece back on the bed, the clamp that I designed didn't work so I'm just waiting to redesign that piece. I'm sure there will be more ideas to follow. The hardware to put this thing together is just a bunch of m5 bolts and threaded inserts, along with m3 bolts and t-nuts. The y-axis wheels just need m5 bolts and threaded inserts. The x-axis needs an eccentric nut. I'll put together a full how-to on my website at: bellwether.arduiana.com. Also worth mentioning is the z-axis. I always hated having to loosen the screw to setup the laser hieght, so I just put in a 3D printed screw for a z-axis. It uses two 5mm rods to maintain level. It works very well and was worth the effort of desinging it!
