Description

***I DID NOT MAKE THE PRINT PROFILES ON THIS PAGE, TRY AT YOUR OWN RISK***

---v2.1---

Everyone has slightly different printers and specs, so I'm adding the .blend file for easier tinkering. The height of the model has been a problem for shorter printers. I use the Ender 5, one of the taller Ender machines.

---v2.0 Is Here!---

"The Chopsicle" v2.0 is here! Moving on from v1.0, the blades have been remade with math in mind rather then eye-balling. I have also added an additional blade to guarantee it will catch and lock. The blades now have a consistent gap of 1.25mm air between blades, so up to 80% smaller should be possible, but I haven't tested it; if anyone is brave enough to try it, let me know how it goes.

Thanks everyone for the likes and boosts. I posted this expecting maybe 4 people to download it, and for “The Chopsicle” of all things to get so many people interested, is really funny to me. This has been a lot of fun, and thanks everyone for help finding the problems!

The Chopsicle: Your Ultimate Telescoping Sword

Unleash your inner warrior and inner fat child with "The Chopsicle," the telescoping sword that bridges the gap between child-like wonder and unimaginable responsibility. Be the coolest person at the local Denny's with this bad boy!

Features:

  • Telescoping Blade: Easily extend and retract the blade for quick deployment.
  • Magnetic Cap: With the magnetic top, parts stay in place and don't get lost.
  • Double Strength Grip: The handle is designed with 3 pipes inside for rigidness and reinforcement.
  • It's a Chopsicle: What more do you want?

Perfect For:

  • Little Timmy on a hot summer day.
  • Canadians fending off polar bears.
  • Russians fending off Russian polar bears.
  • Jack Black.

Instructions:

This print is two parts, one for the main body (v2.0 highly recommended) and one for the cap, no supports needed for either print. The full build requires six 0.6cm magnets, I got mine at a Hobby Lobby and they fit nearly perfect. All in all, it's a very straight forward assembly.

Recommended Settings:

3 walls,

min 10% infill,

0.2mm layer,

Skirt or brim

Increased first layer for bed adhesion,

Cubic infill.

I have a couple issues I've ran into while printing the new version. I had to paint supports because part of this print starts at the second layer. (Why is that?) Causing adhesion issues. I fixed that with painted on supports and tinkering with the settings a bit. But then there's not enough support for the inner most part of the sword. My thought it is it could use more build plate surface instead of the small point it currently has.

Hey Robert! I uploaded the .blend file to the download STL section. You seem to know what your doing and have experience in 3d modeling, so hopefully this will be easier to work with. Sorry about leaving you to do it yourself; school is starting to pick back up and I'm having trouble finding time to work on it. Thank you for being so interested in this model, and good luck.

The blade keeps fall in out like it’s missing a piece.

This profile is made for v1.0, the blades flying out is a common issue. Profiles are made by other users, and I cannot edit or remove them. I'll try removing v1.0 see if that removes the profile. Sorry about your print.

Removing the old model doesn't get rid of the profile. Sorry about that, I really don't know how to fix it.

I use PLA, but it should work with any type of filament.

Just use the Download or Print button and grab the STL. You'll have to use a slicer like Cura or a Bambu alternative. I use Cura.

ah yes, thank you. ill try to upload a profile eventually. I had to shorten the height a bit as its too tall for the bambu machine i guess

Tried to print this 2x on the A1. failed both times at around 70-85%. might be a setting/adhesion issue on my end though. the main body would lose adhesion and fly off the bed.

Sorry to hear that. If you print with a raft it should have better adhesion. Thanks for trying though!

no for sure, tried a raft but I don't think it was big enough. super cool design though I'll have to try it again.

Thanks for sharing. I made two different prints. One with PLA the other ABS and they printed successfully but the parts fly out of the main body when you try and use it like other collapsible swords.

I'm really sorry to hear that. I'll adjust angles to make sure it works and update in a few days. Sorry it didn't work for you and thanks for letting me know.
