Description

Overview

This is a boat model inspired by the TV series "Thunder in Paradise" from the 1994.

It implements the Boat Model Components Kit 010

It is great toy for pools.

Warning

Don't use brittle, old filament. Boat will be brittle too as it is hollow inside.

Printing and assembly

To obtain the best quality and simplicity of printing, I designed this model to be printed vertically with 0% infill.

The engine is located inside the boat. Just put it inside. It holds firmly and is easy to insert and remove. This solution provides good balance and good looks, but does not allow for control. That's why I added the rudder. The rudder fits snugly into a hole under the boat and allows you to steer the boat.

Additionally, I added the name "Thunder" to it as a separate part. If you want to give this boat a better look, simply print the name and stick it in the appropriate place on the side of the boat. Use superglue (Cyanoacrylate glue)

For a better presentation of this model, I also designed a stand for the entire model.

Three sizes.

This model has three sizes. Big, medium and mini. You can choose which you want.

Big version utilize capability of CarbonX1 in Z axis and is most majestic.

Medium version is 10 % smaller than the Big one and is a little faster. Addicionaly in print profile there are two versions of hull (normal with flat bottom and full hull)

Mini version is 23 % smaller than the Big one and is for small printers like A1 Mini.

Replying to @Sevro :
I had the right sheet but had didn’t have it selected on the interface. Been there done that but not this. I’m a greenhorn. I needed instruction on how to open the box it came in, yikes! That said Tyler’s simple answer cleared up a miriad of problems for me. Tyler if you’re reading this I’m gonna print your job again once I get done with my current adventure. I’m sure I’ll adjust my rating to a 5 and give you a boost to boot. I think that’s a good thing?

sick boat. printed in bambu PLA-CF. The accents are very small on the big model, very hard to glue, one idea could be to make the letters and stripes have padding in the same color of the boat and make the inlay all one piece and larger making it much easier to glue. the kiddos are water testing this tomorrow , thanks again, boosts incoming when i get some more

Very nice make :) I agree that letters requires some dexterity to glue. But I designed it only as addition for good looking. If I was designed it as one stripe then it would be a necessary piece as without it the boat wouldn't have name, only place for stripe on its side.
