Here is a holster for a Leatherman Wave Gen 2 (retired 2018) multitool. I like that my design allows the multitool to be removed and replaced with one hand, quickly and easily. Other holsters I have used rely on friction or a flap to keep the multitool in-place; neither convenient nor secure for my needs.
This holster version is provided in response to a request. Please let me know how well it works.
The holster retains the knife in position with a placed Neodymium magnet. The holster secures to your belt with an integrated belt clip. The belt clip supports belts widths up to 38mm (1.5in).
My design uses a salvaged Neodymium magnet from an old 3.5in hard drive, used without the metal plate. The magnet is curved and about 31 x 13 x 1.25mm in size. Other similar sized magnets may work, but, test the magnetic hold strength to ensure that the tool can be held in-place during your intended activities. I secured the magnet to the printed holster with CA (Super) glue.
The belt clip attaches to the holster via two self-tapping countersunk 3mm x 7mm screws.
To note, this holster is for the second generation Wave, referred to by Leatherman as the "Wave - New" and retired in 2018. The current Leatherman Wave tool is the Wave+. If someone can direct me to complete and accurate measurements for the current Wave+, I'd consider releasing a revised holster to fit.
My print is made in 1.75mm eSUN PLA+ filament, with 0.2mm layer height and 15% infill on a Bambu X1 Carbon printer. Print supports are required. Parts are by default orientated in the way I printed them on the print bed, which should give it maximum strength.
I hope you can find this print useful, too.
Remember to leave me some feedback or even a tip to keep me enthused to make more of these drawings.
