The Rocket Mouse is a simple to print model designed for both, playful adults as well as kids. Its a great extension for your desktop, not only stylish but also functional.
In case you want to extend your desktop with even more style and want to showcase the Rocket Mouse, you can also print either one of the stands or one of the wall mounts. The mouse can be easily be put on the stand when not in use and will extend and upgrade your desktop.
The idea for the model came by seeing the retro rocket Emoji on my keyboard. It's not only famous but can be perfectly converted to a full functional mouse for the kit. So I started to prototype the rocket body and to get a feeling for the size and dimension I need to fit the kit inside it. It took several attempts, but at the end I was able to create a base body and extensio which will:
There are several different versions for the Retro Rocket but the most iconic ones contain at least a white body, red wings & top as well as a silver bottom. I extended these colours with golden rings cause it looks really awsome.
Although this is the intended design, I am happy to see all the ideas you can come up with. Thanks to the modular design, it is easy to have a different colour for different parts. It's also possible to paint the parts, but in that case I highly recommend to at least seal it properly to not have long usage signs after a while.
I aimed for an easy assembly, therefore most parts can easily be sticked together. It's a little bit like playing with bricks for adults :) Only the six screws from the kit are mandatory but still easy to assemble. For a full tutorial with images, please check the PDF document. I have added a step to step guide with photos and description. Beside of that, I recommend to watch the official youtube video for the original model as some steps are identical. If you still need any help, feel free to either comment below or send me a PM.
The download contains six different plates. Plate 1-5 are mandatory, plate 6 isoptional. If you dont need the smoke stand, you dont need to print it.
If you have fun in any way by using the model and the mouse, please feel to leave me a comment. I would really like to hear your opinion and/or suggestions for improvements!
