Description

Hi guys - this is “My first Brick-Laying set”

It's my first design for a contest - ever. I hope you will like it.

on the fun side - this is cool toy to take to the beach

on the serious side - its kind of an educational toy that you can use to teach some basic Physics.

I wanted to teach my daughter the fundamentals of leveling. thus, I designed a simple leveler, and brick laying kit, to do so.

The concept is tested and worked with a 4 yo girl and the steps are as follows:

  1. level the ground with the flat trowel, using the grooved side of the tool.
  2. Use the smooth side of the trowel, to finish the leveling process of the surface.
  3. Fill the leveler's tub with water. in case of over filling, there a hole to drain the access water.
  4. Use the leveler to verify that the ground is actually leveled.
  5. a leveled surface will present a flat line of the water that will comply with the white line on the leveler's tub.
  6. fill the brick mold with semi-wet beach sand and press tightly.
  7. grade with the flat trowel.
  8. lay the brick on the prepared leveled surface.
  9. hold the handle and lift the mold - should result in a perfect brick
  10. smooth imperfections with the trowels
  11. lay the next brick as close to the first brick as possible. try to connect the grooves of the bricks together – so later the crack can be filled with wet sand.
  12. fill the leveler's tub with water. in case of over filling, there a hole to drain the access water.
  13. put the leveler on both bricks.
  14. If the bricks are leveled, the water level should be parallel to the ground and along the two slim lines inside the tub.
  15. repeat the process until your child wants an ice cream for his labor.

I have printed this set with PLA Matte for the colors but i have also tried PLA+ (will last longer)

Although PLA Matte looks better.

Settings:

  1. Smooth PEI / High Temp plate
  2. 0.20mm layer height
  3. 2 walls
  4. infill: the new crosshatch pattern at 10%-15%
  5. support is required for the trowel handles - can't print without it
  6. the writing can be customized or removed in bambu studio.
  7. this design requires an AMS unit, but you can reset all the paint to get one color (the leveler will be hard to read)
  8. sorry 180x180 users. This will only fit 256x256 plate. (you can scale down on your own)

Assembly:

pretty easy, connect the Handle with shafts to the press plate (glue is optional - small amount) inside the brick mold.

the only thing that go wrong is if you connect the two they almost never comes apart without snapping

so do not test it outside the brick mold.

i had a lot of fun making this project

enjoy friends' remixes are welcome!
