Description

Tired of spending lots of money for an aquarium hinge or the whole assembly since the hinge is impossible to find? Same here, so i designed this hinge for standard 1/8th inch glass or approx 3.3-3.1mm glass ( I used smaller glass and it still works). This took a few tries to get it where i wanted it and keep in mind its not that easy to install but once done it should last you for a long time since there is no metal.

Each hinge assembly (2 pieces) are 80mm so measure your glass and aquarium and determine how many section you will need. Keep in mind each one are all identical all you are doing is rotating them to oppose each other. Add or subtract hinges from the downloaded file to what is needed for your tank/glass. print the pin at 80mm each or scale up to your needs. I highly recommend printing on a cool plate with glue, this will give more adhesion and flat surface for the hinge.

This design uses a channel for your glass that is meant to be siliconed in place. Use a very fine bead of silicone at the leading edge of the glass and firmly press the hinge assembly in. This in its self was a challenge because each hinge is 80mm each section. So what i figured out is, I used painters tape to hold entire hinge assembly together to keep each section from swiveling independent from each other. Once taped and leading edge is siliconed, press each section of glass into place, then cleaning up any excess silicone up. Do this in a well ventilated area and somewhere you don't have to worry about excess silicone getting on things and try and avoid silicone from hinged section.  As seen in pics i used painters tape to avoid excess silicone on glass and to smear into seam and smooth.  lift tape soon after applied.

DO NOT use any other silicone other then GE clear silicone 1 UNLESS marked aquarium safe.
