When our daughter was born, my wife and I began furnishing her room. Like many, we chose some Ikea furniture. With a 3D printer at our disposal, my wife suggested that I create custom knobs to make our daughter's wardrobe more unique and engaging. Thus, I designed a series of knobs featuring stylized animal heads, including a giraffe, hippo, fox, cat, sheep, wolf, moose etc etc…
Project Overview
Our animal face knobs are designed with both aesthetics and functionality in mind. These knobs are perfect for children’s furniture, making the look of the room more fun and giving more style to drawers or doors.
The design, made thanks to Fusion360, includes the following set of animals:
-Bear
-Cat
-Cow
-Deer
-Elephant
-Fox
-Giraffe
-Hippo
-Koala
-Rabbits
-Sheep
-Wolf
The printing process is pretty easy and doesn't require particular attention.
Objects are printed with the faces directly on the plate so supports are unnecessary.
I chose the 0.12 extra fine details to have a good print quality, but feel free to choose the parameter that better suits you.
Materials
-Pla or Petg were used for the printing and they both worked well.
-I used the provided Ikea screws that are 4mm diameters
Conclusion
These stylized animal face knobs are a delightful addition to any child’s furniture, adding both colours and fun. We hope you enjoy making and using them as much as we did.
Happy printing
