Description

This model can be printed in multicolour without a multicolour printer. Hope you enjoy! The colour-changing process is very easy once you try it, so don't be intimidated! Pictures and a video are included below the instructions to help out.

There is a built-in 10mm diameter hole in the top of the model to allow for a ribbon/lanyard/string to be put through for wearing.

Instructions:

  • In the slicer, set layer height to 0.2mm. The total number of layers should be 85.
  • I recommend using at least 5 top and bottom layers.
  • Set a pause at layers 71, 76, and 81 for colour changes.
    • I use orcaslicer, where you can right-click the layer slider on the right side of the screen to set a filament change. This will pause the print and allow you to manually swap filaments.
    • Reslice the plate after setting the filament colour change. Set the slicer preview Colour Scheme to “Filament” to see a colour preview.
  • When the printer pauses, switch the colours as desired. The intended design is to start with blue, then swap to white at layer 71, then orange at layer 76, then orange at layer 81. You can experiment with different colour schemes if desired. I liked the look of a blue back to the medallion, but you could print white from layers 1-76 for fewer colour changes.
  • When exporting the G code file, I recommend including your colours in the file name to keep track of the order (eg. Oilers Medallion-Blu-Wht-Orng-Blu)

If you are confused about filament changing, this is the video I referred to:
