Description

Purpose: Reduce sucking in hot air from the heated bed to ensure that the heatbreak can function as well as it should. The principle that I saw in this is that the vents and channel leading upward should provide enough free air to not restrict. By removing the significant gap below the fan as the primary air source this should be accomplished as best as can be without adding significant weight or other modifications

Goal: To add as little as possible to the tool head. I did not want to impact the inertia/momentum that the motors need to overcome. Coming in at 0.8g total added the weight of the plastic in the tube likely has more impact.

The changes from the reference model.

  1. Reduce weight even more, weighs 0.8g with my PETG
  2. Very small changes to extruder nozzle. Reference requires full hotend disassembly but this one only requires one screw on the fan to be removed. The other inner screw is more snap on using the tight tollerances of the area surrounding.
  3. Tighten up gaps from the heat source. Reference model had some gaps on the cover side that I wanted to close.
  4. For some reason my p1p could not accept the reference model. The wall on the model was pushing out the nozzle as noted by another user.

To install:

  1. Remove cover
  2. Remove leading fan screw
  3. Lightly snap on the back of the bracket to the inside screw
  4. line up front screw hole
  5. reassemble

Note: As with the refence model, this does not work with the X1* due to lidar in the way
