Description

This is a pixel art Bulbasaur that can be printed without a multi-colour printer. Hope you enjoy! The colour-changing process is very easy once you try it, so don't be intimidated! Pictures and a video are included below the instructions to help out.

Instructions:

  • In the slicer, set layer height to 0.2mm. The total number of layers should be 28 (each layer segment is 0.8mm total, made up of 4 layers x 0.2mm).
  • I recommend using at least 4 top layers and 3 bottom layers.
  • Set a pause at layers 5, 9, 13, and 21 for colour changes.
    • I use orcaslicer, where you can right-click the layer slider on the right side of the screen to set a filament change. This will pause the print and allow you to manually swap filaments.
    • Reslice the plate after setting the filament colour change. Set the slicer preview Colour Scheme to “Filament” to see a colour preview.
  • When the printer pauses, switch the colours as desired. The intended design is to start with black, then swap to red at layer 5, then white at layer 9, then green at layer 13, then blue (teal) at layer 21. You can experiment with different colour schemes if desired.
  • When exporting the G code file, I recommend including your colours in the file name to keep track of the order (eg. Pixel Art - Bulbasaur-Blk-Rd-Wht-Grn-Blu)

If you are confused about filament changing, this is the video I referred to:
