Needed a way to get my Amazon Echo Dot off of the bathroom counter and this was my first and last attempt at a solution. Works perfect!!
*** This does require you to cut a few slots in a basic outlet cover plate which you can get at any home improvemetn store for about $1. I used the slight larger Decora plate and would definitely suggest paying a few cents more for the “unbreakable” one as the cheaper one would probably crack. I used a hot knife (Exacto knife that heats up).
The cord wraps around the circlular part underneath the shelf, feed the power cable throught the hole and plug it in.
The best part, at least in may experience, is that the plug brick for the Amazon Echo Dot actually helps support the weight of the shelf and speaker once you plug it in to the wall. Takes a little bit of trickery to assemble everything, with the outlet cover, then put everything back on to the outlet and screw in the outlet cover, but it worked for me the first time and has held for about 6 months so far with no sign of issues.
Hope it works out for you as well as it did for me. Thanks!
