Description

This is a parametric rabbet plane I drew in onshape. I've printed it in both PETG and PLA. PETG seems to work pretty well but it seems like the bottom will wear more quickly. The STL files included work with a blade that is ¾" wide with a tang of 0.425" or less and 1/8" thick. You can easily adapt the model to the blade you want to use by changing the blade width, tang width, and blade thick in the onshape project. You can also change parameters like the length and height of the body.

This can be fully 3d printed or you can choose the “body_to_be_soled” option and glue a 1/8" thick sole of a harder material like steel, aluminum or brass to the bottom. The sole thickness is also a parameter you can change if you want to use materials on hand.

With this proof of concept done I'm working on some more complicated planes like a skewed moving fillister plane and others. I will also start posting other woodworking related projects. So follow me if those interest you.
