Description

On platforms like makerworld, printables and co. there are often phonecases to see but for most people it is the wrong phone!

This is a phone case generator,

where you can create your custom and individual phone case.

You just have to follow the steps and measure out your phone. Then you have to put these measurements into the generator and you'll get a complete model including all offsets and risks!

If you want to have the same look like in the cover picure remove upper and lower layers in your slicer settings and choose your favourite infill!

Introduction

You can create your own phonecase fitting to your phone.

First you have to open the customizer web-tool from this model.

Then you have to measure out your phone and put the in the web-tool described values in and then click on generate. After that you can download the 3d model.

Special variables

-"cam hole distance": With these two variables you set the distance to the cam hole from the upper left corner. x means the distance horizantally and y vertically. (Same at “cam hole size”)

-"distance to upper button": You have to set this value to the distance from the upper edge of the phone to the first button on the right side of the phone. Buttons on the left side are coming soon! Offsets are included so don't change the values just put the exact measurements in.

-"text position": Here you can say where your text on the backplate of the phonecase starts. With xt and yt you can move the text on x aand y axis.

Offset variables description

Offset “o” is the main offset, which makes a little gap between phone and case.

I recommend to set this offset to 0.2-0.6 mm.

The variable “n” sets how strong or how hard the case holds the phone in place.

I mostly used 1-1.2 mm.

With the variable “s” you set the height of the grips that holds the phone

in the case. Here you can leave it at 1 mm.

-Now I added a new feature where you can add a text on the backplate of the phonecase.

Just put for example your name on it and move it to the right position with “text position” variables. You can also adjust the size of the text.

-added feature: Buttons can be created on both sides. If the length of the buttons is set to 0 they will be removed.

-added left speaker hole

print tipp:

-enable the feature in the slicer, print infill first. So your printer will print the overhangs better.

If you successfully made your own phonecase, great job, please send me an email with your values if it’s not in the following excel sheet yet. Then send me the measurements, the phone name and a picture that you printed it to this email adress:

3dprint_robin@web.de

So we can add those values to a big library where everyone has access to the sizes of their individuell phone.

Otherwise you can upload a remix to this model to achieve the same.

Great job with this so far👏. This is such a wonderful concept. I do however have a few issues with it right now that are preventing me from printing this. One is I think it would be nice if you offered the option to fillet certain features such as the side button spot which have very sharp interior and exterior corners along with the top and bottom to improve the look. two it would be better not to have the camera fillet radius and the outside radius linked to the same value because on my phone they don't appear to be the same. Lastly, I don't know if this is possible at all (I have never used OpenSCAD), but is there any way to improve the export quality of the model? If not I can upscale all the values than shrink it in the slicer. Thanks.

It would also be nice if you could add the case thickness to the rounding radius for the radius on the outside of the case so you don't get the thick corners with the same radius as the inside.

Thank you for your feedback, that helped me a lot. I improved the quality and made an extra radius variable for the cam hole. I also added the wall thickness to the radius for the outer rounding. But to add the rounding was a bit difficult, maybe I'll do a bit research to improve this.

I haven't tried this yet as I am new to 3d printing so I do not understand alot of the terminology but I just want to compliment you on all of your work. This is genius and you are so helpful to others as well. Just like where you made the speaker holes. You said give you 10 minutes, and bam, it was done in 10 minutes. You really seem like a great person. PLease keep up the great work.

Did you think about making public excel sheet where people could upload measurements for different phones? I am not good with measuring, so i would love to have measurements for my Poco x3 :D

My first print with TPU. Not perfect but usable.

This is great, and I love the database idea. Suggestions for optional features: - Indent for MagSafe ring - Kick stand - 2 part case, e.g. PLA+TPU

thanks for your feedback! I can add the magsafe ring, cool idea. If you want to change the model for PLA or TPU just change the tolerance o in offsets because TPU don't need much tolerance than PLA.

Thanks for the reply :) When I said a "2 part case", I meant one that has both PLA and TPU, like shown in the images I have attached. The reason for 2 parts is because the PLA (or something stronger) would be needed to support a kick stand hinge. The TPU part gives better protection from drops, while also being easer to install/remove from the phone. I'm sure this would be a LOT of work (too much), so I have no expectations. But it would be pretty amazing :)

Is there a way to see customizations from other people? I am too lazy to customize my own case for my Galaxy S21 FE 🫣

Just possible if they upload a remix or they send me an email so i can add the values to the excel sheet that I made. Look in the description.

I suppose if they upload print profile, it comes with custom model in 3mf file.

So I put the measurements into the slicer, just scale the case? Is that how this works?

No, on the website on the computer not on the phone you can click on "customize". Then it opens a window where you can type these measurements in and after that you can download the 3d model as .stl or .3mf.

quick tipp, you have to put the exact measurements into the generator. The offsets will apply automatically to the model. And set the offset "o" to 0.25-0.5

Not printed it yet .. but looks awesome .. take my boost !!! 1 think i did run into is that my phone doesnt have left side buttons .. There is no way to disable those. Setting it to 0 on all left button values gives it a weird effect.

first thank you for the boost! I had no other option to disable the buttons. If you set the width of the buttons to zero the roundings of the buttons will move upwarts out the way, because without this feature there would be still a hole if it is set to zero.

But after the download you can just delete this little object.
