Description

Quick Info

This set of infill coasters comes in single and dual color options, and includes the infill label on the underside of each.

Each is 100mm (~4") in diameter and 6mm (~¼") tall. The infill pattern is slightly recessed, creating a raised lip around the edge.

The profiles I've added each include 8 coasters with different infill patterns, but you can edit the objects to your favorite pattern(s).

Just open a profile and print the plates you want. The dual color version will require an AMS.

NOTE: Make sure your Bambu Studio is updated; some of the patterns were added in recent updates (1.9.1 in May 2024).

Unnecessary Over-Explained Details

Each coaster is 2 pieces imported together as a single object (raw files include “Part A” and “Part B”). Then in Bambu Studio, a text modifier is added to each object.

So you have 3 parts to each coaster under the Objects tab in Bambu Studio:

  • Base
    • The bottom and outer ring.
    • This uses default print settings for the profile.
    • In dual color prints this is Filament #1.
  • Infill
    • The center disc that is printed without a top or bottom, revealing its infill pattern.
    • This has modified print settings.
    • In dual color prints this is Filament #2.
  • Text
    • The label on the bottom of the coaster.
    • In single color prints, the type is a “Negative Part” to carve the text into the bottom.
    • In dual color prints, the type is a “Modifier” to add text of another color (same color as the infill).

To change the infill pattern, just select the Infill part of an object and change the Sparse Infill Pattern under Strength:

To change the label on the bottom, select the Text part of an object, then click on the text Icon in the top toolbar ("Edit Text" is grayed out in the right-click menu for some reason).

Print Settings

The most important part is setting the Infill part differently from the project settings (described above).

  • Project-wide settings:
    • Most defaults of the 0.20mm Standard preset are fine.
    • I recommend slowing down the infill since it'll be visible (e.g., to 150mm/s).
    • The profiles use 3 Wall Loops and Topmost layer ironing.
  • Base settings:
    • Uses the project settings.
  • Infill settings:
    • Wall loops: 2
    • Top shell layers: 0
    • Bottom shell layers: 0
    • Sparse infill pattern: [different for each coaster]

Credit

I created these from scratch, but am the 10,000th person to do so. I've tagged multiple pre-existing models as sources for my “remake” to acknowledge those who made the same thing before I did. I believe mine has a unique combination of color, label, holder, and a new infill pattern, but there are some very good ones already out there.

I really like this design. I like the lip and how you did the coloring. Can you add a taper/bevel on the bottom so they set on top of each other with your lip? Kind of like on this one? https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3027141

Looking more closely at the model, it looks like there is a taper! Nevermind. Great model.

That's a great idea, thanks for the input. They currently have a very slight taper, but it's only to make the bottom edge not sharp; it's not enough for them to self-stack. I'll give that a shot and see if they can be modified easily.

Just now printed the set. I adjusted the percent infill to try to make the gaps roughly the same across all of them... except for the crosshatching. If I made that one big enough, it turned into stripes. Great design.
