Description

By popular demand, a fully redesigned Pip-Boy for your Apple Watch Ultra 2! I plan to make more variations of this design to fit other Apple Watches, Galaxy, and Fit Bit as time permits. :)

EDIT: 5/29, working on updated model based on @Snorly providing some awesome feedback and measurements.

!!! NOTICE: This is a BETA version of this model since I have not had the opportunity to personally fit this print to an Apple Watch Ultra 2. The design is based on a scale model of an Ultra 2, so it should work, but I need community support to fine tune it if needed. Please print this model knowing it needs some real world feedback from you :)

Assembly Instructions:

  1. Print the parts using the 0.2mm or 0.4mm nozzle print profile.
  2. The 0.4mm print profile includes brims around the small knob and buttons for better bed adhesion, so peel those off.
  3. Remove the supports around the watch face.
  4. The top right hand print-in-place dial has a couple supports that are small and need to be removed. The dial can be tricky to break loose, but patiently work the dial back and forth until it begins to spin freely.
  5. Holding the Pip-Boy watch face upside down, insert the buttons.
  6. Gently install your watch with the single button side first, followed by pushing the other side of the watch into place.
  7. Turn the watch right side up.
  8. Install the bottom right knob by inserting it into the hole and turning clock-wise until it's firmly in place.

Bottom view of the assembly. My question to Ultra owners is if it’s too loosely fit. I attempted to make the model wrap as much of the watch as possible.

Hey, just did a test print(without buttons, just the case), and it’s actually too small. I printed in protopasta PLA. The crown and the button below can’t fit because the knotch in between them inside the case is too big(you can see in the photos). the other side with the action button seems fine, it’s just the case is a bit too tight. While trying to put it on. it was too tight so it cracked. I’ll reprint it whenever the issue gets fixed so I can help you out.

One more thing. The watch still sticks out and the crown plus buttons don’t line up with the holes. That’s it. The design looks great though. keep up the good work

Thank you so much for the test print! That gives me a great data point. Do you have a pair of calipers to take some exact measures of the watch's width and length at the top of the watch? I need measurements of the thin border around the screen glass. And the button offsets are intentional, it makes sense after you print the buttons since you'll see that they have a large back to press against the buttons.

Anyone with an Ultra/Ultra2 can confirm fitment?

I haven't heard from anyone confirming a good fit with it, yet...still need someone to test it out. It fits my test model.

Sorry for the late response and update. I have international relatives over so it’s been difficult for me to find time alone at the house😅. I’m actually going to start the print now and update on how it fits. Sorry again…

THANK YOU FOR THE ULTRA!! I’ve been waiting for this. I’m printing it now and will show the results when it’s done.

Awesome! From the sounds of it, it's a bit tight, so I need to know by how many millimeters (or fractions of a millimeter) I'll need to make up the difference.

I have the 1st gen Ultra and it was slightly oversized. Will reprint at 99% and see how that works 😁

I also have the Ultra 1 and it's much too small for me. I've already tried to edit the print but unfortunately without success

I have the first Ultra and the fit is a little loose. I'm reducing it by 1% and reprinting it. I think if I make it a little smaller and print the case in TPU with the buttons in PLA it should fit really nice. Thank you for taking the time of creating and sharing it. Much appreciated.

Awesome! Please let me know how that turns out. Side note, this current model doesn't have great buttons, but they should work. I have an updated version, but I've been holding off until I heard back on fit. Please insert the single button side of the watch into the model first and then pull it apart just a bit to get the crown side in place.

Hi, how do you turn the digital crown with this on?

The crown dial becomes disabled to turn, but you can push the button inward. I just use my finger to scroll on the screen instead of using the crown.

I just need a rounded version to adjust for my Pixel watch. Incredible job

I'll put that request in the queue.

Please do one for a galaxy! I know the apple shape lends itself to a pipboy better but I’d love to convert my watch.

thank you for the feedback. I was able to test fit this model and it definitely is too large for the Ultra.
