Read carefully.

I've found this nice StarWars chess set that I wanted to print. I wanted a solid board, that could be printed in my BambuLab P1S in one piece and simple color changes, because I don't have an AMS. So, I've designed this board. It can be printed in any printer with a printing area of 250x250mm. Printed this chess set scaled down to 70% with a 0,2mm nozzle.

Once I've designed the board, I've alse designed some checkers pieces to it. The checkers pieces has the following characteristics:

  • Low filament comsumption;
  • Easy to print with no supports;
  • Stackable;
  • Sized to match the board.

Printing the board (board size 248x248mm):

Use a layer height of 0,24mm to the first layer (I've used it to all layers with a 0,6mm nozzle). Print the darker filament, add a pause to the end of darker filament then change to the lighter one. I've used the classic black/white combination.

For Bambulab, to be able to print the full bed size it needs some tweak. This article explains how.

Other printers may have some particularities, but the key is to pause after first color, change the filament and then let it go till the end.

The checker pieces doesn't need any special configs, but the dimensional tolerances are tight. If they don't fit the way you like it, you can print 2 to test and use X=Y hole compensation to adjust if needed.
