Description

Edit: It seems people were having issues with the middle hinge coming dislodged or bending in such a way that the Poke Ball would no longer properly latch shut in the back. I’ve replaced the middle hinge file with a much sturdier one to compensate.

However, if you close it improperly it can still dislodge the hinge. The included instructional video shows exactly how to close it to avoid this problem.

At long last, it is done! This Poké Ball opens at the touch of a button with the power of nothing but two rubber bands. And the best part–all moving pieces are internal, which means it’s smooth all the way ‘round. No ugly hinge sticking out! Made to be a 1:1 replica of the balls found in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. Of course, if you switch around the color scheme, you can print a Premier Ball with the same files, shown here.

Also included is a little stand to make your ball look like a trophy! I just put filament swaps so the respective stands would look like their ball counterparts.

No special print settings needed, but you will need two rubber bands and your choice of glue.

Showcase and Build Instructions and shown below.

printed great. need to find a different rubber band because the one I had made it pop open when I didn't want it to, but overall, great print

Awesome! Yeah, it's really finnicky, unfortunately. Turns out there's a reason why everyone else uses an external hinge lol. Hopefully one of these days I'll get a more consistent design figured out.

idea: a sleeve thing that slides into the ball and holds a hard sleeved pokemon card

that might be cool! It'd have to be bigger, though, because I don't think a card would fit

the inside should be a sphere with a diameter of 90 mm, and looking it up trading cards are 88 mm in length but I think due to the curve of the ball it doesn't work. If you scale it up a bit you may have some luck!

Hello~ Do you mean the back pops open while it's closed (like the pic)? If so, then it might be the case that the middle hinge is bent or not glued down properly. I dropped this one and as you can see the middle hinge bent and doesn't want to latch, so it pops open a bit even when closed.

Just a heads-up; I replaced the middle hinge with a much sturdier one; if you're interested in giving it another go, it may help!

Thanks for the boost! I'm out of the house so I can't get a pic of the real thing at the mo, but here's some from the Fusion file. Lemme know if you want anything else, or the Fusion file itself!

awesome build, the joint was tricky though and broke. replacing it once the rest is built is not easy.

Yeah, I realize how cramped it can be in there. Glad you managed to get it to work out, though. Thanks for the review and the boost!
