Description

Floating frog surface lure with jointed legs.

Flick or use steady retrieve to mimic a frog swimming on the surface. Legs will swing out of the way in case of a strike.
Body is approximately 4.5cm long, total of 15cm with legs extended. Print with 40% infill so it floats and it's still heavy enough to cast.
And if fishing isn't your thing, it's a cute toy.

Has pilot holes for eye hooks. Note that front and back pilot holes are angled upwards slightly.
The eye hook screws I used are 16x7.5mm [ https://a.co/d/cw17O1R ]
Hooks shown in the picture are size 1 single hooks [ https://a.co/d/jm4p57k ]
This picture shows the angle of the pilot holes.

General 3d Printing Tips

  • Make sure your printing plate is clean! Oils from your skin will cause adhesion issues for your prints. Regularly wash your print plate with a detergent like Dawn and avoid touching the surface when removing prints from the bed.
  • If it's an option on your printer, always opt to level the bed before each print. If you have to perform this manually, make sure you do this after every few prints. It takes a bit of time and patience, but it's a fair trade for reliable prints.
  • Ensure bed and nozzle temperatures are within the expected range for the material you are printing. Temperatures that are too high or too low will affect the print negatively by causing warping, malformed layers or adhesion issues.
  • Reduce your printing speed. Slower print speed is especially important for overhangs because it gives the material more time to cool as it's deposited.

Maybe I need to play with other type of PLA. initial layer was not dense. Were few artifacts on legs and body.

Replying to @Spoklad :
Fwiw the model from the pictures was printed with bambu pla basic. I'll try a print with elegoo pla to see what it does. At the moment I don't have other brands available.

Printed at 0.12 layer height with a filament swap at layer 6 for a yellow under body and added realistic eye stickers. Will add some hooks later. Printed pretty good. The over hangs are a bit of a high angle on the connections so the don't print the cleanest but overall pretty good 👍

Definitely largemouth bass, smallmouth bass and pike. Lake stripers in california as well. Frogs are delicious snacks for many fish species, but these are the ones more commonly targeted using frog lures.
