Description

I saw a similar LED Globe and wanted to make my own.

It uses an ESP8266 Wemos D1 Mini running WLED.

There are in total 80 segments in the globe, each with 1 LED.

I used 2 of those strips: WS2811 2811 IC Full Color Pixel LED Module.

The strips have 50 LEDs each, so I cut 10 off and used 2 strips, 40 each for each half of the globe

For printing there are 55 MainPanels, 5 MainPanels with PowerConnector and 20 StichPanels.

They interlock into each other by connectors and don't need additional hardware to hold together.

On the picture of the 3D Model you can see how they connect.

Basically alway 5 MainPanels together and a StitchPanel in between.

For the bottom group I used 5 MainPanels with PowerConnector and glued a Power Connector to the hole, but you could also run a cable through it.

The tolerances are perfect for my P1S using BambuLab Basic PLA.

Also the LEDs just click in place.

I advise to print 2 segments and test for yourself.

Here is also a video of it:

I used a DC power jack like this: https://amzn.eu/d/2vRnPFd The hole at the bottom fits perfectly.

awesome, I have started printing this project. My question is what size power supply did you end up using?

I use a 5V 3A DC Adapter which is enough for this...you should also be able to power it with an USB adapter.

yes, there is enough space. You can stick it between the cables no problem.
