Description

modular hydroponic tower. The necessary parts in addition to the molded pieces are an Ikea Nypon vase (24cm), an aquarium pump of various powers depending on the number of plants, hydroponic trays and a PVC pipe.

Hello, me again for a second question! I'm preparing on printing your tower and I was wondering about the actual gardening part of this tower :) First time trying a hydroponic setup, would you have any recommendations on how to start seedlings and which kind of "soil" to use in the pots for the tower? From your pictures it doesn't seem to be soil but clay balls, am I correct? If so, how do you "plant" a seed in those? Sorry for the questions that are not directly related to model/printing, just a complete newbie eagerly wanting to try your solution :) Cheers!

ciao, yes I used clay balls cause I used plants already grown. if you want to grow seeds I suggest you to use rockwool cube. you can buy them from amazon.

Thanks so much for your answer! For plants already grown, do you get rid of the soil it grew in first while being cautious of not damaging the roots and then put the plant back in clay balls? And for plants which grew in rockwool cube, are you supposed to remove the rockwool cube once the plant has grown up a bit? Cheers

Great design, a couple quick questions for assembly though both pieces from plate 2 go at the top? And does the pvc pipe run through the entire center of the tower? Thanks!

ciao, all the 3 pieces goes on top. one is the cap, the piece with holes is used to pour the water, the small piece is to put the pic tube. I made separate because I used a pic tube bought from my local store but is possible to use different pic tube with different diameter. I will upload them if someone will ask me a different diameter.

ciao, it's a 8mm pic tube. But you can choose any other tube. You can write me and I'll design it according to your need.

hi, is usable, I used a pvc pipe. I don't know if it's food safe, I mean if you will like to grow eatable plants. I used a pic pipe with basil and strawberry. is a clue for me too... ;)

Hello, what schedule is suitable for the pump to water the plants?

hi, I started 8 minutes every hour, then 7-6-5. I have two of them working right now. one is on for 7min every 2 hours, the other one is on for 5 min every 1 and a half hours. Honestly I don't know which one works better. i use also a fertilizer.
