Disclaimer: Bambu Lab specifically states “We strongly avoid doing these mods, and instead, we recommend using external power methods for LED mods or other applications that need power to be implemented.” Read More Here
I wanted to put this disclaimer up front so everyone knows what they are getting into before doing this mod. You could damage your printer if you are careless or are not comfortable with electronics. No one is liable of any damage other than you, even if I made a mistake in the documentation. That said, if you see a mistake please let me know so I can correct it.
Lastly, this USBuffer mod is intended for LED strip lights only! Do not plug anything else into this USB port such as your phone, laptop, fans, chamber heaters, filament dryers, microwave, refrigerator, Tesla, etc. Even an LED strip that draws too much power could potentially fry your printer. What is “too much” of a power draw you ask? I have no idea and I don’t want to find out. |
See documentation below for PDF with step by step instructions.
I wanted a super clean solution to power my LED riser light. I also wanted a little soldering project!
