Hey everyone! 🌟 I decided to dive into a creative project using my trusty router and some leftover oak wood scraps. Super excited about all the upgrades to the router, I just had to put them to the test!
Here’s what I learned: for a newbie like me in the realm of template routing, opting for more robust and thicker templates is the way to go. The router bits can get pretty feisty and gnaw into your template if it’s not sturdy enough.
Originally, I created separate "dots" for detailing, but they were tiny! I switched gears for a sleeker, unified approach that not only looks cleaner but also makes it easier to indicate letters and their depths without separate pieces.
Instead of having raised dots, I decided on a subtle "mark" on the wood. This way, I can use a wood burner to etch the details into the bowl, creating a smooth, integrated look. What do you think? Drop your tips and thoughts—I’m all ears for more ideas on how to refine this craft! 🛠✨
