Description

So this one was a silly idea.

A long time ago, I ordered some bias lighting for my monitors. I just replaced it for ARGB lighting, but didn't want to just throw the strips away, so I decided to make a status indicator light from them, using the logo of the Adeptus Administratum.

It's fitting for my job 🤣

After a four-sided version failed miserably to print so I cut it down to just being two-sided and honestly, I think it's awesome.

Since my strips were old and had been moved several times the tape was getting not so sticky - I added little clips inside the model to ensure they stayed in place. There is a cutout on the side that leaves room for the stress relief plug from the LED controller to slot in to, which is then secured in place and covered up by the face component. The face component snaps in nicely and has a very firm fit. The opening on the plug hole is 5mm tall and 4.5mm wide.

The "Adept Admin Busy Light.3mf" file is a Bambu Studio 1.7.4 project file with all my settings and profiles used to print the model. The other two files are direct exports from Fusion if you'd like to work on your own.

I elected to make the body white for maximum glowing, as this is supposed to be a highly visible status indicator at my desk afterall. If you want it in black instead of white, change the 'tube' object to black and erase the painting from the face component.

I also threw some anti-slip rug tape (seriously one of my favorite tricks with prints!) on the bottom to stop it from sliding around on top of my cubicle wall.
