Description

(Download the new Version (1mm Offset))

Two years ago, I bought the now discontinued Zodiac X Phaetus BMS Hotend. Now I want to upgrade my Ender 3 V2 with an Orbiter Direct Drive Extruder.

For that Combination, the Apoogee Tool Head would be great, but the Zodiac x Phaetus BMS Hotend was not support.

Now I have adapted the existing Dragonfly BMS modell so the new hotend could be used.

DISCLAIMER:

I have only printed the Interface Area to check the fitting. I still need to print the hole printhead, so I cant 100% guarantee, that It will work. When it is finished, I will also add the required length of the PTFE Tube. (In case you are faster than me, you can share your results ;) )

Update 06.09.2023:

As of now, the Orbitor Website is under maintenence. I have foud an archived version on Wayback Machine.

Update 18.11.2023:

I have ordered squarenuts an started assembling. Make sure that your hole diameters are dialed in, as my printer with a bit of overextrusion generated to small holes (2,9 mm instead 3.3 mm holes)

PTFE Tube length without champfers edges is 44,5 mm. With champfers it is 44,5 mm + (4 mm - 1,75 mm) = 46,75 mm

Update 30.11.2023:

I've assembled the printhead and realised, that I modeled the hotend wrong in Onshape. The fanshroud itself appears to be lower than the tip of the nozzle, with which you will be not able to print.

For that reason you should download the new model, with an lowered mounting of the hotend by 1 mm. This means, the PFTE Tube length should be 45,5 mm if not champfered and 47,75 if champfered. I am sorry for the five person, who downloaded the model already. Maybe you will get if to work with some sanding.
