Description

Simple puzzle box I made to put a mothers day gift in. I've also included a version that is just a decorative box without the puzzle aspect. Everything can be 3d printed, but I do find using metal 3mm x 12mm dowel pins a little bit nicer.

Print Recommendations

  1. Bottom Surface Pattern needs to be set to ‘Concentric’ to get the nice patterns on the top and sides.
  2. Use Silk and Glitter filaments because the shine looks nicer.
  3. Don't use a heavily textured sheet.

Assembly

  1. Pop the sides in to the main container. Glue if needed, but do a dry fit first.
  2. Clean up the 8 Pins, You need to ensure the sides are smooth from removing the brim and that they won't snag on anything.
  3. Insert the Spinner piece into the Lid. Glue if you need to, but do a dry fit first and make sure everything is flat and flush.
  4. Insert all 8 pins into the holes in the Lid.
  5. Insert the Octagon piece into the lid to lock the pins in, it should be a snug fit. DO NOT GLUE THIS PART!
  6. Lift the lid up and rotate it around, make sure all the pins move smoothly in and out of position. If they are working smoothly, then you're all set. If any of them are binding then you will need to remove them and smooth them down.
