Description

I made this model to display with my dual-tap kegerator. I like to use local craft breweries and the beer on tap is always different. This is for 2 tap handles, but you can download the file and edit it in Studio to clone pieces or remove them.

Other materials needed:

  • 3/8"x16 brass threaded insert (one per tap handle)
  • 10mmx2mm neodymium magnet (one per handle and one per label)

Assembly:

  • For the tap handle threaded insert, apply a few drops of CA glue to the inside of the bottom hole, slide in one of the tube inserts and let dry. This tube insert is to add some strength since this area will be a stress point.
    • I don't recommend using more than a few drops. I put too much and when I turned it upside down later, the remaining glue dripped all over me. Rookie move I know.
  • Once the glue has cured, install the threaded insert. 3/8" is standard tap thread in the US, you may need to adjust the tube to fit an insert for your country's standard thread size.
  • Take one of the little rings and press one of the magnets into it, should be a snug fit. Add a drop or 2 into the recessed hole in the handle. Press the magnet/ring into the hole with the magnet side down. Use a non ferrous object to press the ring flush. I used a brass punch. Wipe off any excess glue and let dry.
  • Repeat the magnet install step for each insert
  • You must pay attention to the polarity of the magnets. Make sure they are all setup correctly to attract rather than repel. You don't want to get all the way done and find that everything works on one handle, but none of the inserts stick into another handle. Ask me how I found this out…haha

Files:

  • Default file for Bambu comes with blank inserts, you will want to use Studio to apply TEXT. If you want it flush to the surface, make sure the “thickness” and “embedded depth” are the same value, I used 2mm. If you want the text raised, it should be 2mm by default.
  • I've also included the file with my labels, but i'm sure yours will be different. These are beers from Galveston Bay Beer Co. in Webster, TX
