Description

Hi All, I have been working on this for a few weeks and feel it's finally at a stage where I can share it, it is still a work in progress and I apologize in advance if I've made mistakes with the upload or the model, this is the first time I've uploaded a fully designed model to makerworld (hopefully with print profiles), this was fully designed in Tinkercad so I'm working within the limitations of that.

This freestanding old-fashioned lantern is fully 3d printable and screwed together, it's designed so you can fill the base with either sand or water to act as a ballast, However even with the added weight if you print it too high it may not support itself, the model I printed is 6' tall and is a little top heavy, the stand also flexes considerably, I've designed it with an electronic tealight in mind which works, however, I haven't fully finalized the access to this, I basically drilled holes in the 4 corners of the lantern top and middle parts and added screws, then the lantern top and bottom parts I glued together, this isn't ideal and I'm open to suggestions on how to make these parts fit better/make more accessible.

I recommend printing the top 3 sections of the lamp using the standard 0.2mm profile, I upped mine to 4xwalls and this seemed to make it more sturdy but for weight you could try the normal 2x walls with 15% infill. For the top piece, I added custom supports just for the upper part of the underside of the print. The Middle needs tree support. the base prints with no supports.

The pole (top and extensions) I printed in the 0.2mm Strength profile, I wouldn't recommend going higher than this as it won't print the threads properly.

The bottom as I said is printed hollow to allow it to be filled with sand/water, then the plug piece acts as a connector also for the lantern pole extensions.
