Description

Here is a system to store filament that is 100% 3d printable. NO HARDWARE REQUIRED!

Most of what you see to build this is being provided here. You can build a complete system using what is provided.

However, additional options are available on my Ponderings3d Patreon.

Why are you apologizing to me for how you feel? If it is not practical for you then don't print it. This is not for storing filament. Stacking it in racks would make more sense for that purpose. This allows the user to stock a variety of materials while making it quick and easy to find and access those materials when they are needed. One shelf is not going to hold just one roll of filament. It is going to hold as many rolls that are rotated through the shelf over the lifetime of that shelf. For some that may be a small number and for others it could be a very large number. For me, it is worth it to be able to quickly locate what I need and get it to my printer without having to dig through stacks of filament trying to find the right material (PLA, ABS,PETG, etc), right variation (silk, matte, sparkle, marble, wood, glow in the dark, etc) and color (single color, dual color, gradient, etc).

Can a .6mm nozzle be used.

I have not printed them with a .6mm but it should be fine.

I printed 2 with the .6mm nozzle. One at .30mm layer, the second at .42mm layer. The .3mm layer had a print time of 7hrs 45min, the .42mm layer was 7hrs 26minutes. So not too much difference. Both were with 2 walls, 3 top layers, 3 bottom layers, and 5% Gyroid infill. What is interesting is the material usage between the .4mm and the .6mm. The .4mm nozzle uses 337g based on the settings in the downloaded file. The .6mm uses 425g. I am assuming because of the thicker wall. Two wall loops with the .4mm is a .8mm wall, with the .6mm, 1.2mm. Slicer says the print time for the .4mm is 9hrs 20min. (in the photos the .42mm layer print is on the left, and .30mm on the right.)
