the supports on the left hand were so bad none of ours turned out. Both prints now only have one hand

Strange issue! Which printer are you using? Which filament's? Did the support fail? Any photos of the failure?
I will try my best to help you solve the problem.
It must be an issue with your setup, as lots of others have printed this with no issues.
